At this event, hosted by vocL co-founder, Juergen Maier, our panel of industry experts and vocL voices explored the difference between “good growth” vs “bad growth”.
The evening sparked an insightful conversation on the nature of responsible economic growth – what it looks like, how we measure it, and how businesses can stay aligned with their values while scaling. The consensus was clear: growth for its own sake isn’t enough. True progress means ensuring that economic success translates into real benefits for society.
One of the key debates was around GDP – does it truly reflect a nation’s prosperity, or do we need better metrics that account for sustainability, social impact, and long-term value creation? We also explored the challenge of incentivising responsible growth, ensuring that businesses can thrive while staying committed to ethical and sustainable practices.
A recurring theme was the importance of bringing communities along on this journey. Green growth and ESG initiatives can’t be exclusive concepts reserved for a few, they must drive real, tangible improvements for people at every level. If we want a more sustainable future, we need to make sure that the benefits are widely shared, not just concentrated at the top.
